Pastor Sarah Pierce began with us as a Synodically Authorized Minister (lay pastor) in December 2020. She is bivocational; in addition to being our called pastor, she also works in care management for Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri. She enjoys the balance that both roles bring to her life and her brain. In In her care management life, she gets to spend a lot of time playing with data.
She and her wife, Rebecca Morris, have been married since 2013. They have 2 children (one adult, one getting close) and four dogs. They enjoy watching sports together, and are avid fans of the Chiefs, the Royals, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team.
Pastor Sarah enjoys cooking – it’s one of her favorite ways to feed her soul and take care of her loved ones. She enjoys challenging herself by trying new recipes, and also likes to relax in the kitchen with family favorites. She like to read, although these days, much of her reading comes in the from of audiobooks while she’s commuting.
She is passionate about extending Jesus’ welcome to all people. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, she believes that Jesus’ radical, inclusive welcome is truly meant for all, particularly those folks who have often been told that they are not welcome, or are only welcome if they conform to a certain standard. Instead, Pastor Sarah believes that the people who should be welcome at church are anybody who walks through the door. Just as they are.
