My wife’s and my first visit to All Saints was during the height of the pandemic. People were gathered for worship in the parking lot. We were welcomed with socially-distanced open arms and felt it was the place for us!
My first few months, worship was asynchronous – everything recorded ahead of time and posted in separate videos. WE met again in the parking lot for worship on easter and then started meeting in the sanctuary again on Pentecost. What joy we all felt when we finally started singing together! And I was so
happy when COVID numbers stopped being a part of my Sunday morning announcements!
We became Reconciling in Christ (open and affirming of LGBTQIA+ people, committed to antiracist work, and welcoming of people regardless of ability, age, mental and physical health status) in 2023. We are proud to carry this designation.
We take such joy in worshiping together, in working together to serve our neighbors, and in eating and celebrating together. We are small in numbers, but GREAT in spirit! Come and see for yourself!
Jean began working at All Saints Lutheran Church I April of 2018. She is originally from New Jersey, so if you call All Saints at 816-229-3633, you may notice her accent.
Jean has adopted the members of the church as her own and does her best to help all of us as well as anyone who stops by the office or calls for assistance. She staffs the office Tuesdays through Fridays.
Jean cares for several fur babies at her home. She is also a mom to three daughters who live significant distances from Missouri. Jean is a definite contributing asset to our community of faith.
I joined All Saints Lutheran Church following the closure of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Independence. I am in my second 3-year term on the church council.
I continue to see significant growth in our ministries: we approve a budget every year, supporting Community Services League; a worshipping community in St. Joseph, Missouri; Lutheran Disaster Response, Reconciling Works; World Hunger; and the Central States Synod. However, I am the proudest of our monthly in-kind collections for Community Services League (food, cleaning, and hygiene products) as well as toys for Christmas (CSL) and gifts for the Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries Christmas store (gifts and quilts). We also collect money for God’s Global Barnyard in Lent and direct any offerings to Community Services League during
Lenten services.
I am originally from Iowa by way of Georgia, retired, and enjoy the company of my delightful family (son, daughter-in-law, daughter, and grandson) at family meals and a number of sporting events for my grandson. I also truly enjoy working and worshipping with my community of faith. I have usually worked
in the church in stewardship, learning ministries, and providing banners, paraments, and vestments for worship.
Please consider worshipping with us if you are in the metropolitan area.
Hello. I'm Paul Blixrud and I serve as the Church council secretary as well as on the building and grounds committee. I've been attending ASL for about 10 years.
I am recently retired from serving as a city clerk to a small community in the area. I enjoy time with family and friends and working on small home improvement projects.
I appreciate all the hard work and contributions that our congregation continuously gives. It certainly is like no other.
I have been a member of All Saints Lutheran Church since 2003. I serve on the Stewardship, Witness and Worship and Music committees. My role on stewardship includes helping to facilitate our fall pledge drive and the collection of supplies and money for Blue Springs Community Services League, God’s Global Barnyard, and Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries. I also serve to increase congregational awareness of the world around us and our care for God’s creation through our Monarch
Watch activities include rearing Monarch caterpillars in the sanctuary and the creation and expansion of our Monarch Garden. I also help plan other activities to experience nature, such as hiking with the youth and trips the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium, where I am a docent at Powell Gardens.
My role on Worship and Music committee includes serving as part-time church organist and conductor of the bell choir. In my spare time I cross-stitch, knit, crochet and play tennis.
I've been going to church since I was a young child. I joined All Saints Lutheran Church a few years ago and am so glad I did. I participate in Sunday worship and Bible study, and play in the handbell choir.
All Saints had just moved into the current building when I first visited in 1998. Having grown up in an ELCA congregation, I was happy to find another ELCA congregation near my new home. My two children have been baptized and confirmed at All Saints, and they are now recent college graduates.
I currently serve as our church treasurer and I am one of our organists. In the past, I have directed the Sunday School Christmas musical, led the music at VBS, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served as choir accompanist.
